About ACSEE

The Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) is a national examination administered by the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) to students who have completed two years of advanced secondary education (Form 5 and Form 6).

Purpose of the Examination

The ACSEE serves several important purposes:

• Assessing learners' knowledge and skills acquired during advanced secondary education
• Determining eligibility for higher education opportunities
• Providing a standardized measure of academic achievement
• Serving as a benchmark for quality assurance in secondary education
• Facilitating the selection process for universities and other tertiary institutions

2025 Results Overview

The 2025 ACSEE results show significant improvements in overall performance compared to previous years. Key highlights include:

• Overall pass rate: 78.5% (up from 75.2% in 2024)
• Division I: 12.3% of candidates
• Division II: 28.7% of candidates
• Division III: 27.5% of candidates
• Division IV: 10.0% of candidates
• Failures: 21.5% of candidates

Science subjects continued to show strong performance, with Mathematics and Physics recording the highest improvement rates. The gender gap in performance has narrowed further, with female candidates showing particularly strong results in Biology and Chemistry.
